MAPLEWOOD — The Maplewood Police Department announced today that it has earned reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), a voluntary process that fewer than 5% of U.S. law enforcement agencies complete.
“Accreditation is not a one-time event — it is a commitment to continuous improvement,” said Chief of Police Marcus Reyes. “Our officers and staff worked hard to document compliance with 459 separate standards covering everything from use-of-force reporting to evidence handling.”
The reaccreditation covers a four-year period. The Department will undergo annual remote reviews and a full on-site assessment in year four.
